My first shoot in the five part Queens of the Stone Age series is complete! I had so much fun, and have already made some big accomplishments resulting from the photos.
For this shoot, I used my Nikon D3000, with a Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor Lens, as well as a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S VR DX Nikkor lens. The only lighting tool used for this shoot was a 48 inch reflector kit, which has the option to use silver, gold, or a light diffuser panel.
We met up bright and early and headed down to the Los Angeles River. I ended up finding the actual entrance to the river, where you can drive your car straight in for a joy ride if you wanted to (and someone did while we were shooting!) We made our way down the tunnel that was of course covered in graffiti, and eventually made it to the river. There weren’t very many people there yet since we chose to start early, so we had plenty of space to get creative. We spent a good 2 hours trying different poses, looks, and lighting scenarios.
Our next stop was about a half mile away, where a set of railroad tracks run underneath one of the bridges, and a huge warehouse lines the background. This location had a bit more of an industrial tone to it, which I felt worked perfectly with the theme of this particular shoot. We were able to achieve some really creative looks there. Before leaving that area, we walked around for a few blocks. It was filled with cool warehouses, factories, and tons of art everywhere.
We wrapped everything up after about 4 hours. I spent the next couple weeks editing photos, creating a behind the scenes video, updating my website and social media, and submitting my photos to various magazines and photography sites. So far, I’ve managed to get featured on Dark Beauty Magazine’s website, as well as all of their social media platforms. I’m waiting patiently with my fingers crossed to get some other features from this shoot, as it is one that I am very proud of!
You can check out the behind the scenes video below, and can view all of the photos from the shoot right here on my website! I am so grateful for the likes, comments, messages, and support I’ve received from all of you! I’m excited to bring you more awesome work in the future.
I couldn’t have done this without my amazing team, thank you guys so much for all of your help:
