I’m in the midst of planning my next photoshoot in Queens of the Stone Age: A Portrait Series. In my attempt to go bigger and better with each shoot in this series, I’ve decided its high time I stock up on some new props. With a fairly tight budget, my options are somewhat limited. But then again, there is the saying…”one man’s trash is another man's treasure”. I’m taking that saying to heart, and have decided to jump in my boat (err..car?) to set sail…yard “sailing" that is.
Okay, so that metaphor was pretty lame. But honestly, I can’t think of a better way to stock pile some unique props. Here in the next few weeks, I will be “setting sail”, if you will, and hitting yard sales, garage sales, costume shop close out sales, and more. Being in Los Angeles, I have the benefit of being right smack dab in the middle of tons of fanciness/weirdness. Those lucky Angelino’s that have that house in the hills may very well have my next treasure, and I’m coming for them! I’ve downloaded a pretty nifty app that shows you where all of the nearby yard and garage sales are. So with my “treasure map” in hand, I hope to land on some sweet deals.
My next shoot is going to be different, and by different, I mean straight up weird. I’m gonna need to create the perfect ambience in my un-used garage, which I believe will be the location for this upcoming shoot. I can’t wait to see what awesome stuff I can pull together to do this. I’m branching out, trying new things, and building my skills.
(Shout out to Sophia Dzikas Photography for the image that I found on a free stock image site, her work is LEGIT)
